Acura Lights: safety as well as quality.

We live in a capitalist society, and competition is the governing force that shapes and regulates the delicate balance between consumer and retailer, ensuring that the capitalist operates in the most efficient and productive manner, and that they charge a fair price for their goods. In effect then, we have a form of social Darwinism, where only the companies and businesses most willing and able to evolve, adapt and change will succeed, thrive and indeed, most crucially, survive.
This same principle is applied to technology as well, which itself typically analysed and fine tuned in order to maximise profits for the capitalist. As new technology is developed which results in a safer, more effective means of achieving the same results which had to be performed by a more obsolete method of doing it. However, that is not to say that it is only ever big businesses that will benefit from breakthroughs and advancement through technology, because consumers can and do derive some benefit both directly and indirectly in such breakthroughs. This may take the form of a less expensive product, a product which has a longer useful lifespan, or one which is more reliable and safer to use.
In relation to the automobile industry, the latest great breakthrough has been LED car lights which have managed to thoroughly trump their counterparts, the incandescent light bulb which is fast becoming a thing of the past. In fact, within Europe, the European Union is attempting to pass legislation that would in effect outlaw ILBs, and whilst this may seem rather drastic, it really is better for everyone all round. ILB when they reach the end of their useful lifespan they can pose a very severe safety hazard. As the heat passes the filament contained with the bulb this causes wear and tear to it. As soon as the ILB ceases to stop working, it will simply go from emitting light to none at all at the drop instantaneously. This may not sound particularly worrisome but think of the following scenario:
You are driving during the night, and are feeling very tired as a result. You are driving through a secluded area, where there is no one around and you do not have your cell phone to hand. All of a sudden your Acura Lights cut out without warning. As can be seen, the ILBs are simply too unreliable to be of any long term use.
